No Question Left Unanswered – Surf Camp Made Easy!

Worried about packing, payments, or perfect waves?
Relax—we’ve covered everything so you can focus on surfing.

Bookings & Reservations

Once you’ve submitted your registration form online, your spot at our surf camp is secured. You’ll receive a confirmation email with payment details, and we’ll provide additional information when you arrive. Please note that all reservations are final—cancellations may incur fees (refer to our Terms & Conditions).

Travel & Arrival

Since there are no direct flights from Europe or the Americas to Bali, you’ll need to book a connecting flight. For the best deals, we recommend checking flight comparison sites like Skyscanner, Traveloka, Checkfelix, or Opodo.

All international flights arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Denpasar—Bali’s main and only international airport.

Many airlines allow surfboards as part of your standard checked baggage (typically under the 20–23 kg limit), but policies vary. Always confirm with your airline in advance to avoid surprises—and specify it’s a traditional surfboard (not windsurfing gear) to prevent mix-ups.

Yes! Complimentary airport transfers are included for stays of 5 nights or more at Sōleïa Canggu Surf Camp. For shorter stays, a small fee applies. To arrange pickup, email us your flight details (arrival date/time, airline, and flight number) and your WhatsApp number at least 48 hours before departure. Upon landing, connect to the airport’s free WiFi—you’ll receive a message from our driver with their name, photo, and meeting point instructions.

Money Matters in Bali

The official currency is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). As exchange rates vary, expect approximately IDR 19,000 per €1.

While many street vendors offer tempting rates, only use authorized P.T. Moneychangers to avoid scams. Always request large bills (IDR 50,000 or 100,000), as legitimate exchangers typically provide these. You can also exchange cash at Sōleïa Canggu Surf Camp’s hosting (Monday–Saturday, 9 AM–5 PM).

To confirm your booking, full payment is required before check-in. Note that we currently do not accept credit card payments on-site.

Yes! ATMs across Bali accept major cards (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Cirrus), with a maximum withdrawal of IDR 2.5 million (~€167) per transaction (you can repeat transactions if needed). For security, use ATMs inside banks with guards to minimize fraud risks.

Surf Camp

Our Sōleïa Surf Camp in Canggu is just a 5-minute walk from the nearest beach—perfect for quick surf sessions!

Each room has a digital safety deposit box for cash, passports, and small items. For larger valuables (laptops, cameras), our front office provides secure storage. (Note: We’re not liable for lost/stolen items.)

Bali uses European-style sockets (220V). If your devices have different plugs, bring an adapter—or buy one cheaply locally.

Yes! We supply bath towels (please don’t take them to the beach—bring your own sand-friendly beach towel).

Absolutely! We provide fresh linens (changed regularly). With Bali’s warm nights (~26°C), you won’t need extra bedding.

Enjoy free high-speed Wi-Fi in all rooms and common areas.

Transportation & Vehicle Use

Our vehicles are primarily used for guided surf tours during the day. If you'd like to use one:

✔ Check availability in advance

✔ Speak with our camp manager

✔ Requirements:

    • Valid international driver's license
    • Third-party damage insurance
    • Minimum 3 passengers per vehicle

While there's no rental fee, we appreciate guests refueling before returning the vehicle.

When guests operate our vehicles:

⚠ Drivers and all passengers share responsibility for any accident-related damages

⚠ Our camp insurance doesn't cover guest-operated vehicles

Vaccinations & Medical Preparedness

We recommend:

  • Tetanus booster (single dose)
  • Hepatitis A (2-3 doses, starting 6 weeks pre-trip)
  • Typhoid (oral vaccine, 3 weeks before travel)
  • Optional: Rabies vaccination & malaria prophylaxis (though Bali is officially malaria-free, rare cases occur)

Important Note: Malaria prevention medication can have side effects. Instead, use DEET repellent, protective clothing, and mosquito nets to minimize risk. If visiting other Indonesian islands, check their specific health advisories.

Surfboard Rentals & Equipment

We offer high-performance surfboards for all skill levels—from beginner soft-tops to epoxy/polyester boards for advanced surfers. While our boards are built for performance, improper handling can cause damage. Repairs are the renter's responsibility, but optional board insurance covers minor damages (exclusions apply for lost boards/parts).

No! Bali’s warm waters (27-30°C) make wetsuits unnecessary—just bring your swimwear and reef-safe sunscreen.

At Sōleïa Surf Camp, we’re dedicated to ensuring your time on the waves is nothing short of amazing. To help you surf with confidence, we’re excited to offer optional surfboard insurance for our rental equipment at a small additional cost. While not mandatory, this coverage is highly recommended for your peace of mind, allowing you to focus on riding the waves without worry.

Surfing is an exhilarating sport, and accidents can happen—whether it’s a fin ding from another surfer in the lineup or damage from an unexpected wipeout. Without insurance, guests are responsible for any damage to our equipment, regardless of the cause. Our surfboard insurance provides comprehensive coverage for any damage to the boards, including repairs or full replacement if the damage is extensive. This means you can surf with confidence, knowing you’re protected no matter what happens in the water.

What’s Covered:

  • Accidental damage to the surfboard, such as dings, cracks, or fin damage, even if caused by another surfer or a wipeout.
  • Full replacement costs if a board is damaged beyond repair.

What’s Not Covered:

  • Intentional damage to the equipment.
  • Lost or stolen surfboards.

Surf Lessons vs. Surf Guiding

  • Surf Lessons: Ideal for first-timers, our certified instructors teach wave basics and safety using soft-top boards. Our 7-day Learn-to-Surf package (6 lessons) builds confidence fast.
  • Surf Guiding: For surfers who can stand and ride whitewash, our guides take you to level-appropriate breaks, offer real-time feedback, and maximize wave count.

Pro Tip: Beginners in our 3-day program can join afternoon surf guiding by Day 2!

Absolute beginners should start with our 5-day package to build proper technique. If you’re already comfortable catching waves, surf guiding will help refine your skills.

Yes! Lessons include lycra rashguards, towels, sunscreen, and water. Board rentals are separate (book in advance).

Travel Insurance Essentials

At Sōleïa Surf Camp, we do not provide travel insurance as part of our packages. We strongly recommend that each guest arranges their own comprehensive travel insurance coverage before arriving. Surfing, as an exhilarating and extreme sport, can sometimes lead to unexpected injuries or illnesses, especially when traveling in a foreign country like Indonesia, where local conditions may challenge your immune system differently than at home. Having robust travel insurance gives you peace of mind to fully embrace the waves, knowing you’re protected against unforeseen medical expenses, trip cancellations, or other travel-related issues.

Why Travel Insurance is Highly Advisable:

  • Medical Coverage: Surfing carries risks like cuts, sprains, or more serious injuries, and medical care in a foreign country can be costly without insurance.
  • Trip Protection: Covers unexpected cancellations, delays, or interruptions that could disrupt your plans.
  • Health Risks Abroad: Traveling to Bali may expose you to new environments where your body’s usual immunities might be tested, increasing the chance of illness.
  • Peace of Mind: With insurance, you can focus on enjoying your surf sessions and exploring Bali without worrying about potential mishaps.

We encourage you to choose a policy that includes coverage for adventure sports like surfing, as well as emergency medical evacuation, given Bali’s remote medical facilities in some areas. Be sure to verify with your provider that your policy meets your specific needs for travel in Indonesia.

If you need guidance on selecting a suitable travel insurance provider or have any other questions about preparing for your stay, our friendly team is here to assist. We can’t wait to welcome you to Sōleïa Surf Camp for an incredible surf journey!
